Reporting to: Team Leader / Sales Manager


To become a trusted advisor of all IT Products and Services supplied by Softcat to all customers.


• Generation of new accounts / opportunities through:
o Business Intelligence gathering / research
o Targeted Activity / Cold Calling
o Following up marketing activity
o Introduction of Sales Specialists (Security / Services / Storage)
o Customer Visits to introduce Softcat as and when required

• To maximise revenue / profit from every managed account through:
o Developing a thorough understanding of the customers business needs
o Introduction of as many core product sets as possible to each account
o Introduction of Sales Specialists (Security / Services etc)
o Develop multiple contacts within each account
o Providing the required level of customer service
o Regular review meetings with customers (where appropriate, ask TL for guidance)
o Consistantly achieve set targets and objectives

• General Administration

o You should be familiar with all relevant Softcat sales systems and able to fully utilise all the features they provide.
o Keeping all databases up to date with relevant information is very important. It is your responsibility to keep all account and contact information up to date including mailing lists on SLX.
o Other admin duties include building quotations and proposals, placing orders for customers on SLX, requesting returns through customer services.
o For more experienced Account Managers Sales Support may be available however this is at the discretion of your TL or Sales manager.
o You will also be familiar with and able to use disti and vendor systems that can aid you in your job (InTouch, MyBoris etc)

• To effectively share knowledge of Accounts and opportunities through:
o Regular Strategic account reviews with Team Leader
o Maintaining Customer history / opportunities on SLX
o Maintaining a detailed pipeline that can be made available upon request.

• To Maintain the required level of knowledge / expertise through:
o On-going product training
o External Sales Training (when available)
o Completion of required certification exams / courses (MLSE etc)
o Informing your TL or DTL of any training requirements that you have

• To approach the role in a professional manner:
o Time keeping / time management
o General behaviour
o Following company procedures and guidelines
o Maintain required standards of work and attitude as expected by Softcat.
